Yesterday, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) appeared on Newsmax’s National Report to discuss President Trump’s plan to impose tariffs on Canada and China. According to Miller, these tariffs aim to curb illegal immigration and prevent dangerous drugs like fentanyl from entering the United States through the southern border.

Miller expressed her support for President Trump’s decision, stating, “The one thing that we need to remember is that our world leader is back in office. He is strong, he is a wonderful negotiator, and he is committed to keeping our country safe and great.” She emphasized Trump’s commitment to fulfilling his promises made before taking office.

Discussing the approach towards tariff negotiations with other countries, Miller noted that Trump intends to bring them “to the table” to address trade imbalances. She said, “He’s bringing them to the table and letting them know that enough is enough.”

Addressing the potential national impact of these tariffs, Miller highlighted issues specific to West Virginia: “I am from West Virginia, and we have had terrible problems with drug addiction and the free flowing of these drugs coming from the borders.” She stressed that Trump aims to protect Americans by scrutinizing budget spending line by line.

Miller also called for expedited Senate action in appointing necessary personnel: “We need to get the Senate to hurry up and move more people into place so we can take care of business.”
