This morning, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, known as the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act. Congresswoman Miller voted in favor of the legislation and expressed her support during a speech on the House floor.

In her remarks, Congresswoman Miller highlighted the efforts of Ways and Means Republicans over the past two years. She noted their work involved traveling across America to gather feedback on the impact of the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts. According to Miller, these tax cuts provided financial benefits to working families and small businesses.

Miller stated that “working families got more money back in their paychecks from a simplified tax code,” while “Main Street America was able to utilize the small business deduction to weather the storm of high inflation during the Biden years.” She also mentioned that larger businesses could invest domestically due to a competitive corporate rate.

The new bill builds upon previous tax policies by offering an average $1,300 tax cut for working families. It fulfills President Trump’s promises by eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay and makes permanent the 199A small business deduction.

Additionally, it addresses concerns for gig workers by ending what Miller described as “the Democrats’ ridiculous $600 1099-K reporting threshold” and returning to a standard of $20,000 and 200 transactions.

Miller emphasized her commitment to resolving this issue since its inception under Democratic policies. She concluded her speech by stating that “this legislation will undoubtedly make the life of the Average American better,” urging her colleagues to support it as well.
