Congresswoman Carol Miller from West Virginia and Congressman Guy Reschenthaler from Pennsylvania have announced their roles as co-chairs of the Congressional Appalachian Caucus for the 119th Congress.

Miller expressed her commitment to Appalachia, stating, “Appalachia is home to many hardworking Americans and a beautiful part of the United States.” She emphasized the region’s contribution to America’s resources, mentioning coal, natural gas, and agriculture. Miller highlighted her dedication to improving healthcare access, broadband, transportation, and job opportunities in Appalachia.

Reschenthaler also shared his perspective on the region’s challenges: “Appalachia has long been overlooked and left behind by Washington bureaucrats as the far-left’s Green New Deal policies devastated our communities.” He voiced his determination to work with Miller in restoring opportunities for Appalachians.

The Appalachian region covers 206,000 miles across 13 states with a population of 26.3 million residents. The caucus aims to address shared concerns such as domestic energy production and access to essential services like transportation, healthcare, and broadband.

Both Miller and Reschenthaler have previously collaborated on legislation benefiting Appalachia during the 118th Congress. This includes supporting projects like the Mountain Valley Pipeline through legislative acts focused on fiscal responsibility and economic growth. They continue their leadership roles in this new session of Congress.
