Graduates earn 419 degrees, certificates from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College

About 37.7 percent of the 419 degrees and certificates handed out by Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Gay conferred 156 associate's degrees and 2 certificates in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in registered nursing/registered nurse. Data shows the school gave out 46 associate's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse, followed by 38 certificates in general studies and 32 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies.

The college enrolled 1,458 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
