61 percent of applicants to the West Virginia University Institute of Technology were admitted for fall 2018

At the West Virginia University Institute of Technology, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 54 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Beckley enrolled 1,755 students in fall 2018, all in undergraduate programs, data shows. 6.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

87 percent of undergraduates are residents of West Virginia, and 10 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (77 percent) and Black or African American (6 percent).

The school admitted 61 percent of the 1,517 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 40 percent enrolled.
