40% of households in Gauley Bridge received food stamps in 2020

Gauley Bridge ranked 48th in West Virginia for the percentage of households receiving food stamps in 2020, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

There were 110 Gauley Bridge households (40 percent) who received food stamps. Gauley Bridge's population was 646 in 2020.

The city with the largest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Big Creek, which had 26 of 26 households receiving food stamps, 60 percent more than Gauley Bridge. In 2020 the population of Big Creek was 74.

The cities with the lowest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state were Bridgeport and North Hills. In these cities, 1.4 percent of households received food stamps - 38.6 percent less than Gauley Bridge.
