Debra Harvey works as a physical therapy tech/secretary at Logan Regional Medical Center and has been honored with the November 4 U Employee of the Month award. Debra has worked at LRMC for 8 years in this position, but she has worked in the medical field for 25 years.
As a PT tech/secretary, Debra schedules patients and works with insurance companies to get patients approved for therapy. She also works with physical therapists and occupational therapists when needed.
Debra says that she loves working with patients and getting to see them improve daily.
"A few years back we had a patient that had a stroke and couldn't walk or move her arms, and now I see her in Kroger from time to time and she walks up to me and cries every time I see her and she reminds me that I helped her get her life back," she said. "Just knowing that I was part of the process to help this woman go from not being able to walk or move her arms to being able to walk, talk, and live her life like she did before the stroke is the best feeling in the world."
While Debra might have been surprised with her 4 U nomination, her co-workers weren't as surprised, and expressed how deserving she is of this award.
"Debra goes out of her way to recognize our staff for recognition weeks and decorating the department to keep everything festive for holidays," said Andy Toler, Director of Therapy. "I couldn't ask for a better employee, she is extremely dependable, hard-working, and always welcoming to patients making them feel as comfortable as possible."
Thank you Debra for all that you do for our hospital and community. We are so fortunate to have you as a member of our team!
