New River CTC to offer massage therapy program in Princeton starting in 2023
New River Community and Technical College is expanding the college’s offerings at the Mercer County Campus in Princeton by adding the Certificate of Applied Science in Massage Therapy. Applications are being accepted now and classes will begin in February 2023.
“Massage therapy has been a very popular program at the Greenbrier Valley Campus, and we’re excited to bring the program to Mercer County,” said Campus Director and Community Outreach Roger Griffith. New River CTC has offered the massage therapy program at the Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg since 2015.
During the two-semester program, students study anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, and specific types of massage including: Swedish, Eastern, deep tissue, and sports massage and pathology. Students also learn to communicate clearly with clients and other members of the health care team, evaluate symptoms, manipulate muscles and other soft body tissue and provide clients with guidance in self-care techniques.
