Throughout the year, we're going to share winning entries in the WVSOM Alumni Association's photo competition, all of which appear in the association's 2023 calendar. The calendar's eye-catching, flower-filled cover photo was taken by David Proctor, D.O., a Class of 1986 alumnus who captured the image in Nicholas County, W.Va. "Decorating the fields by Summersville Lake are uncountable numbers of coreopsis lanceolata, a member of the tickseed family," Proctor said. "We were in the midst of a lakeside family picnic when I saw a flash of yellow in the distance and climbed a little hill leading to the field. I found myself in a sea of yellow, and a photograph was mandatory."
