WVU Tech softball is undefeated in 2023 after taking two W's Saturday to open the home schedule. The Golden Bears are 4-0 overall, earning a 10-8 victory over Bluefield State University followed by a 5-2 decision against Frostburg State University.
Courtney Miles earned both W's in the circle, combining for 9.2 innings including the complete game victory against Frostburg State. Miles finished with a total of 14 strike outs while giving up just five hits and two earned runs.
Emma Crisswell threw for 3.0 innings and struck out two while Gracey Dearmon pitched for 1.1 innings and recorded one strike out.
Macy Wilkens finished with three hits over two games to help lead the Golden Bears, finishing with a double and two RBI.
Nicole Kester, Kyleigh Jackson and Brianna Stevenson had two hits each. Jackson had a double and two RBI while Stevenson recorded two doubles and a RBI.
Tori Wells knocked the lone WVU Tech triple of the day while also posting three RBI and two runs scored.
Makenzie Holley, Kelsey Huffman and Miles drove in two runs each.
Holley, Kester and Jackson all grabbed a stolen base.
The Golden Bears will host Frostburg State and Bluefield State again tomorrow at Little Creek Park. The triple-header will begin at 11 a.m.
