Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) was awarded the World Trade Award at the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC) Foundation 2024 World Trade Dinner for her efforts in enhancing U.S. trade policies and trade relations with allies, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
"I am honored to have received the World Trade Award from the NFTC and be recognized for the work that I have been doing with my colleagues to help strengthen our trade relations with our allies specifically in the Indo-Pacific region," expressed Congresswoman Miller.
In her acceptance speech, Congresswoman Miller highlighted the importance of addressing the trade challenges posed by China, stating, "The United States is falling behind China when it comes to trade in the Indo-Pacific, which is why I introduced the bipartisan U.S. Trade Leadership in the Indo Pacific Act."
She emphasized the necessity for Congress to take action in implementing a robust trade agenda to enhance trade opportunities with Indo-Pacific allies and counter China's economic influence in the region. The congresswoman underscored, "I will continue to work on trade policies that will help the United States be the world leader that we need to be on the global stage."
Congresswoman Miller's proactive approach to trade relations was further demonstrated through her introduction of the bipartisan U.S. Trade Leadership in the Indo-Pacific Act. This legislation aims to reassert Congress's authority over trade and address China's increasing economic influence in the Indo-Pacific by revitalizing American engagement with allies and fostering regional partnerships.
The World Trade Award serves as a testament to Congresswoman Miller's dedication to advancing U.S. trade interests and strengthening diplomatic ties with key allies in the Indo-Pacific region.
