Congresswoman Carol Miller of West Virginia participated in the 38th Annual Jose I. Ricard Family Medicine & Sports Medicine Conference, held in Washington D.C. She addressed the audience on her efforts in Congress to tackle rural healthcare challenges and underscored the significance of family medicine.
"Rural healthcare has been a priority of mine over the last several years," stated Congresswoman Miller. "It is a heartbreaking reality that many patients in West Virginia don’t have access to resources, nearby hospitals, and medical treatment. Our state recognizes the need for more physicians, that’s why I am grateful for the Family Medicine Foundation of West Virginia’s commitment to increasing healthcare opportunities and funding medical students so they can best serve our rural communities in the future."
She also noted that the conference was an excellent platform to learn about family medicine's impact and explore congressional actions to enhance healthcare accessibility and affordability for residents of West Virginia.
