Congresswoman Carol Miller, along with Congressman Michael Guest and 119 other colleagues, has introduced a bipartisan resolution to honor the service and sacrifice of U.S. veterans on Veterans Day 2024. The resolution encourages Americans to observe the day in recognition of veterans' efforts to protect the United States and uphold freedom.

"Our country is a gift, and I am thankful for the bravery and sacrifice our U.S. veterans make to protect our freedoms. Their selfless actions will never go unnoticed," said Congresswoman Miller. She expressed her support for Representative Guest's resolution as a means to ensure that veterans receive proper recognition.

Congressman Guest added, "I am humbled by the dedicated service and the sacrifice that our United States veterans have given to this country. This resolution is a way for the U.S. House of Representatives to demonstrate our deep appreciation for our nation’s heroes."

Veterans Day was initially known as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. In 1947, Raymond Weeks organized an event in Birmingham, Alabama, which led to Armistice Day being renamed Veterans Day to honor all American veterans.

Today, over 15 million veterans reside in the United States, having served since World War II. Since 1776, more than 41 million individuals have earned veteran status by serving their country across various global locations.
