Rep. Miller Announces $498,840 for Water System Projects in McDowell County

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) announced $498,840 secured through Community Project Funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the DigDeep Right to Water Project that will be invested into a sanitary septic and sewerage service project in McDowell County. 

“The health and wellbeing of West Virginians is my priority in Congress,” said Congresswoman Miller. “Securing this funding and investing it into cleaner and safer water systems is crucial for the prosperity of our community. I was honored to visit and speak at events hosted by DigDeep and now am excited to see this grant aid in the revitalization of our septic and sewage systems to improve the lives of McDowell County residents."

Background:

  • In Fiscal Year of 2022, the EPA chose 483 water infrastructure projects through Community Project Funding, totalling $841 million in EPA Community Grants under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022.
  • The grant will be invested into new sanitary septic and sewerage systems for 35 households (80 individuals) in McDowell County, West Virginia. 
  • Additional 17,000 McDowell County residents will benefit from new septic systems that will be administered to eliminate raw sewage from streamlining into the country's waterways. 
  • Congresswoman Miller prioritizes securing community project funding for wastewater projects in West Virginia.
