Congresswoman Carol Miller of West Virginia and Congressman Lance Gooden of Texas have called on Attorney General Pamela Bondi to investigate the dismissal of a $275 million fraud lawsuit against Tonopah Solar Energy, LLC by the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ). The case involves taxpayer losses related to the Crescent Dunes solar project.

The DOJ dropped the case under the False Claims Act one day after the 2024 presidential election, citing it was "not in the public interest." This decision has been criticized as political interference. Fox News Digital reported on a letter sent by Miller and Gooden to Attorney General Bondi regarding this issue.

Congresswoman Miller stated, "The American people soundly rejected the Biden administration's radical Green New Deal agenda and fraudulent coverups when they voted for President Trump. Our understanding is the Crescent Dunes project was an energy proposal that cost American taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars, produced less energy than promised, and posed safety concerns for individuals working on the project. With President Trump back in the White House, transparency is now the standard for the federal government."

Congressman Gooden added, “This isn’t just fraud; it’s a cover-up. The American people deserve answers about why taxpayer dollars were squandered and why Biden’s DOJ worked overtime to bury the truth. This is about green corruption. The Biden administration turned the DOJ into a shield for fraud and political favoritism. Texans and all Americans deserve better."

Other signatories of the letter include Representatives Tom Tiffany (R-WI), Eric Burlison (R-MO), Scott Perry (R-PA), John Rose (R-TN), Darin LaHood (R-IL), Andy Ogles (R-TN), Brandon Gill (R-TX) and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA).

In 2024, Congresswoman Miller had previously sought answers from former Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding this case's dismissal.
